Mr. Tiger Goes Wild by Peter Brown

Ever since Creepy Carrots, I have wanted to read more books by Peter Brown.  As a book discussed for the 2014 Caldecott Award, I was eager to read Mr. Tiger Goes Wild to classes.  From the colorful cover that is hidden inside the book jacket, to the selectively colored art, I loved this book.  Here is a video in which Peter Brown discusses the making of the book.

Brian Selznick hosts tour of the American Museum of Natural History

Author and Caldecott Award winner, Brian Selznick, has teamed up with the American Museum of Natural History to bring you a virtual tour of the museum.  Brian’s newest book, Wonder Struck, follows the story of Ben and Rose and their individual searches that include New York and the museum.  The beauty of these stories are portrayed in the blending of words and pictures just as we saw in The Invention of Hugo Cabret.

The author’s works are written at the fifth grade reading level, but can be enjoyed by a much broader audience with the use of illustration and as a read aloud.
